Lead user researcher and curriculum specialist for Nick Jr. Games
Makeda Mays Green is the lead user researcher and curriculum specialist for Nick Jr. Games. In this capacity, she creates and implements educational content across digital platforms, including online, video game consoles and mobile devices for Nick Jr. brands (including Dora and Friends, Paw Patrol and Bubble Guppies). She also oversees research with preschoolers to ensure that products best meet the needs of the target audience.
Prior to her role at Nick Jr., Green worked as the director of education & research, digital media at Sesame Workshop (the creators of Sesame Street), where she supported the Workshop’s mission by focusing and examining the potential of current and emerging digital media platforms to deliver quality educational material to children and families.
In addition to her role at Nick Jr., Green is also the co-founder and executive director of Digi Play, an independent consulting firm dedicated to creating quality content for young children. Among her many projects is The Journals of Mama Mae and Lee Lee, an immersive, child-directed storytelling app produced by Grammy Award-winning artist, Alicia Keys.
Green has delivered several keynote addresses, given guest lectures at various universities (including Temple University, New York University and Harvard University) and been featured on a variety of media outlets, including WABC 7, iMediaconnection.com, MSNBC.com and Good Morning America Now. She has served as a judge for the National STEM Video Game Challenge (sponsored by the Obama administration), and she is the proud author of Makeda: Moving Up in Media, an autobiographical short that details her journey into the children’s media industry.
Green earned her B.A. from Wesleyan University and her M.A. and Ed.M. from Teachers College, Columbia University.
